WHEEL OF FORTUNE

There was a segment on one of the early shows the other morning about the number one reason for personal bankruptcy is due to people not being able to pay for their cancer drugs.  A couple months ago I went to my oncologist and she wanted to change my medicine.  The plan was to stay on my original meds (which I pay a copay for) for five years and then go to another drug for the next five years... Just the day before my appointment, research showed that going to the second drug after two years may be better.  I'm not sure I trust the reasoning but I thought maybe I should give it a try.  The medicine turns out to be $580.00 a month.  I did some research and there is a discount program and I can get it for $370.00 a month.  Still -there's no way I can afford that. I'm not quite at 2 years anyway so I decided to just stay on what I've been taking and re-visit it at my next appointment in a few weeks. Still, though, I'm a little worried about all of this.

PERFECT TIMING
Found this in my drafts  - looks like I never talked about it when it happened...

I haven't had a watch on since college but I've been thinking about starting... I'm still rocking an iPhone 4S because I just don't really care. I have to say, though, I'll probably be getting the Apple Watch.  I'll take a side of Scarf Guy too.

TAKE FIVE
So Chrissy and I opted out of our normal less crowded Friday Ligonier Days today... I'm starting to get nervous about all this stuff in storage and feel like I need to take advantage of the days I have off so we decided to go back to storage and work there.

I asked if we could eat first and she said no.  Actually - NO!  We were worried about rain and wanted to get as much done as we could. Last week it did rain a little and we were scrambling to get everything back in. Turns out she had second thoughts because she knows how I am when I get hangry so she brought snacks - we set up a little lunch table before we got started and dined al fresco.

She even brought dessert - Take 5 bars and cookies from dinner last night at Hoffstots.

Our friend Steve, the care taker, had to be laughing his ass off watching us on surveillance cameras while we sat there eating and coming up with a plan of attack for all the bins.

There is a method to this... whatever is going in is going to be there for god knows how long so it's going to get buried.  There has to be a little thought as to what is/isn't going to be accessible. It's not just moving stuff from one unit to another. She is an expert stacker.  Like mad skills.  She really should be a consultant for hoarders.  I think she has a niche market there.  It would be a good business.

We did make some progress... It's like a giant puzzle trying to use all available space which I'm, admittedly, terrible at.  I don't have a photo of the one side but she stacked a bunch of wood items... it looks like an art installation. We had to pretty much take everything out and get what was in the back of one unit and bring it to the other. It looked good for awhile...

By the time we were ready to leave, though, they were pretty much full again...

We're getting there.  See you soon, storage items.

OF HOUSE AND HOME
I had to go to the vets to pick up some meds for the pup the other day.  I passed by the house on my way.  You know, I got made fun of for posting a picture of Dixon House the last time I was there.  That still blows my mind. I will never, never understand that.  That still sits heavy on my heart. I sat in front of the house for awhile and saw, in my mind, the kids walking to school with their parents... yelling out "that's where RoseBud lives." The same scene I would see from the bedroom window every morning.  I can't imagine what they think now.  The poor neighbors.

What a shame. This was my home.  Our home.  The days and months put into picking out the perfect paint colors and the clouds on the ceilings and the trips to Rolliers... I'm sorry Dixon House.  So sorry. I know it's not very fun to be discarded.

I did get to stop at Marshall's and TjMaxx and go to Sonic for a tea and Portman's for ham!

PETER PETER PUMPKIN EATER HAD A WIFE AND COULDN'T KEEP HER
Join me for another episode of things I thought I lost in the house...

Chrissy is an air plant whore.  At least she was.  She got on a kick with them awhile back and now she hates them and wants to get rid of them all.  I had one many, many years ago.  David bought me a little pumpkin at Walmart when we were up at PSU.  I thought I had found it in storage years ago and brought it here for safe keeping but I've been searching for it and could never find it.  We went to storage and I discovered it in a bin!  I was so excited.

I had no idea it was there this whole time!  I really thought I lost it.  The old air plant was still in it.  I used to keep it like that at Dixon House.  Chrissy grabbed it and said she would give it back to me. She replaced it with a fine specimen.

Here's hoping I don't kill it.  My track record hasn't been too great with mine...

She also gave me another creepy, exotic one for a little tonka I have.  I had a fancy red tipped one for that but killed that too so we'll try to do better with this one.

WHO'S YOUR GRANDMA?
I think this is hilarious... Grandmas are accidentally tagging themselves as Grandmaster Flash.  Reminds me of one of The Dad's friends who is somehow tagging him in almost all his posts!

PLAYING FOOTSIE
I FINALLY found my footie cup in a box here at the house.  I remember getting it from Dixon House and I thought I put it in one of my craft cupboards for safe keeping but I've been searching for it and couldn't find it.  I just recently found it in a box in the garage.  I have a good way of losing things when I think I'm putting it away for safe keeping.  Anyway, I have it and I am so happy. I really thought I lost it or threw it away by mistake. My footie cup has been through a lot with me.  I yelled at  Denise once (may she rest in peace) for drinking vodka out of it when we were in college.  It was only for dry cheerios - my favorite snack. NOTHING ELSE GOES IN MY FOOTIE CUP - ONLY CHEERIOS. ;-)

When we were at Hannastown I was admiring this guy for sale...

A brother from another mother! He was a different color than mine.  I never saw another one before.  I was going to get it but didn't want mine to get mad. ;-)   I chatted with the guy selling it for awhile - he was asking me all kinds of questions about it since I told him I had one.  I think it's late 70s early 80s. He thought it was from a video game but I don't think so. I did a little research on them and found this photo on Pinterest...

What? There's a f-ing bowl!!!  None are available but I even found a photo of an orange one!
