BSILF (Philadelphia Trip - Part 1)
I'm not really an acronym girl...except for the occasional BTW, FYI or WTF. For some reason I'm still uncomfortable when I use the LOL thing and I would NEVER go as far as ROTFLMAO - I think I have all the right letters in there! BFF, in my opinion, is a little over used and slightly too 1967 yearbook for my taste and I would be lying if I said I didn't cringe when I see a number in one of those things - like L8R or something like that - just reminds me of some silly license plate.

I will say this, though, I just had a great few days with my BSILF - Best Sister-in-law Forever for those of you that don't know what that means. I think I may have just made that up. ;-)

My BSILF recently decided to come with me on a trip I had originally planned in February. We added to it a little bit. I'm hoping it was the lure of seeing Mary Beth Roe's house and not the fact that she didn't want me driving alone that enticed her to come but either way I'm glad she did! We had soooo much fun.

It took me over an hour to get out of the driveway on Wednesday... I went back in the house 4 times to "check" on Lily.

I don't know how in the world people can travel for work and leave their kids at home for any amount of time. I HATE leaving my puppy! I kept going back in to kiss her and tell her I'd be right back. Finally - after a pep talk text from David and seeing the clock quickly ticking away, I took a deep breath and managed to put the car in drive.

My trip started off ALONE - the first time EVER that I drove anywhere (long distance) by myself. Well the ALONE part consisted of the 26 miles between Mt. Lebanon and Murrysville but, still, it was a BIG step for me!

I stopped downtown at my Dad's and he handed me a bag with potato chips (self explanatory) and bathroom cups in it (because, after that 20/20 segment aired, everyone knows I don't like drinking out of the glasses in hotel rooms!)

Then I was off..

The first 26 miles... I saw two "just happened" accidents and two other police escorted ambulance rides... and a movie being filmed. I stopped at Sheetz to put gas in the car and I suddenly turned into a lab animal trying to put a square block into a round hole. I put my card in and lifted the nozzle and it asked me to select the grade and I had no idea what to do... I pushed every non-pushable graphic around me and had no idea how to get the thing started. Finally, I left that pump and went to another one and asked a very old man how to make it work - of course he knew how because they had pumps like that when he was a kid! (Thanks nice old man who even checked on me when he was finished.) After a couple phone calls back and forth with the manager (because my card info was still in the first machine and a big old white van came up after me) we managed to work things out. Stupid old fashioned gas pumps at Sheetz!!! Thanks Grace for making me feel not so stupid - glad you couldn't figure it out either. Seriously, I thought those things went out in the 50s.

After that ordeal, I picked up my BSILF, Chrissy, and WE were off... 26 miles down - 267 to go...

It was pretty uneventful going to King of Prussia. We had some snacks, drove through some rain... I had my second incident with a gas pump when we got there... something was going on with the machine when it should have been paying attention to me - it finally stopped ignoring me but, seriously, you would think I just started pumping my own gas or something. I'll say it - WTF??? I've been doing that for a few years now! ;-) Anyway, they had little tvs on the pumps playing ads and Access Hollywood so that was kind of cute.

We checked in to the Crowne Plaza - she asked if we wanted a king bed or 2 doubles. We giggled - told her I reserved two beds. Not sure if she asked because of our identical luggage, Chrissy's Birkenstocks or the brochures we picked up including this one:

We love the Gayborhoods and everyone in them but weren't really planning on moving in any time soon!

We had a dimly lit dinner at the Cheesecake Factory...

...cheesecake (banana cream and chocolate mousse) "to go" for breakfast the next morning and back to the room to go to bed.

With that said, our first day was over. I think I'll save the rest of the trip for later... this blabber fest is getting a little long and should probably stop now. More on Philadelphia, Sally Jean and our QVC tour and tour of (South Central) PA tomorrow - at least I think it's south central... Chrissy tried to give me a geography lesson but I was too concerned with all the yard sale signs on the side of the road to process much of what she tried to teach me. ;-)

SWAK & RMA,
Jeannine
